Captain Ziaire A. O’Brien was born on Long Island, NY on March 23, 1992. Candidate O’Brien graduated Officer Candidate's School, Platoon Leader’s Class in July 2012 and July 2013. On 9 May 2014 Candidate O’Brien received his commission to the rank of Second Lieutenant. Second Lieutenant O’Brien graduated from The Citadel, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science on 10 May 2014, and received orders to The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia in March 2015.  Upon completion of The Basic School, Second Lieutenant O’Brien was assigned to Logistics Officer Course, Camp Johnson, NC with follow on orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 8, Camp Lejeune NC.

 

In November 2015, Second Lieutenant O’Brien reported to Logistics Officers Course 1-16 and graduated in March 2016. Upon graduation from Logistics Officer Course, Second Lieutenant O’Brien reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 8. From May 2016 to July 2016, Second Lieutenant O’Brien served as the Embarkation Officer and Command Element S-4 in support of Baltic Operations 2016. While deployed, Second Lieutenant O’Brien was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant in May 2016. While a part of Combat Logistics Battalion 8, First Lieutenant O’Brien served as Battalion Training Officer from March 2016 through December 2017, Current Operations Officer from January 2017 through May 2017, and Detachment Commander, Naval Air Station Sigonella from May 2017 through August 2017. He deployed to Sigonella, Italy in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Africa, January 2017 through August 2017.

 

Upon his return First Lieutenant O’Brien was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General, 2d Marine Logistics Group from September 2017 – June 2018.

 

First Lieutenant O’Brien then received orders to 2d Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. First Lieutenant O’Brien attended the Series Commander Course in July 2018 in which he was the Honor Graduate. First Lieutenant O’Brien was then assigned to Company F, Second Recruit Training Battalion and served as an Assistant Series Commander from July 2018 to December 2018. First Lieutenant O’Brien was promoted to the rank of Captain in October 2018.

 

Captain O’Brien served as a Series Commander from July 2018 to April 2019. Captain O’Brien will now serve as the Assistant Director, Drill Instructor School, Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD Parris Island, SC.

 

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

 

Captain O’Brien is married to Briana O’Brien and they have one dog, Charli-Rose O’Brien .
