Maj. Anthony A. Millette

 

Major Anthony A. Millette was born and raised in Wyoming. Upon graduation of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines. In April 2001, he entered service undergoing recruit training at MCRD San Diego, CA.

After recruit training, he attended the School of Infantry in Camp Pendleton, CA. Thereafter, he was ordered to 2d Battalion 7th Marines (2/7), Twentynine Palms, CA. In 2002, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan, on a unit deployment program (UDP). 

After returning from UDP, he attended the 2/7 Scout Sniper Platoon indoctrination and became a member. Shortly after, 2/7 was ordered to deploy to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. He conducted operations from Al Asad Air Base, Forward Operating Base Hit, Haditha Dam, and was in the first battle of Fallujah. In September of 2004, 2/7 returned to Twentynine Palms. Thereafter, he was honorably discharged. The last enlisted rank he achieved was sergeant.

In 2011, Anthony Millette earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at the University of Wyoming. In 2011, he commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through the Platoon Leaders Course program. In 2014, he graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law. Thereafter, he passed the Wyoming Bar Examination and has been licensed to practice law in the State of Wyoming from 2014 to present.

In 2014, he entered active service, completed the Basic Officer Course in 2015, and attended Naval Justice School in 2016. After MOS school, his first assignment was to Legal Services Support Team MCAS Cherry Point, NC. He served as a legal assistance attorney for six months. Thereafter, he successfully served as a prosecutor for over two years. During this time, he was selected to attend Intermediate Trial Advocacy course and Operational Law of War course at the Army Judge Advocate School in Charlottesville, VA.

In September of 2018 he completed SERE School in Kittery, ME. Between November of 2018 and June of 2019, he served as a SJA/DSJA to Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Iraq 19.1 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In this capacity, he was a voting member on the National Targeting Review Board and provided legal advice on target packages leading to more than 50 kinetic strikes. He provided legal reviews on the full spectrum of special operations, including Military Information Support Operations (MISO), Advise Assist and Enable (A2E), and Advise Assist Accompany and Enable (A3E) operations. Further, he assisted in numerous Ground Force Commander (GFC) and Target Engagement Authority (TEA) training events, ultimately certifying more than 80 GFCs and TEAs.   

Thereafter, he was selected and attended the Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, VA, graduating class of 2020.

Between 2020 and 2022, Major Millette served as the Deputy SJA, MCRD PI/ERR in support of the Recruiting, Recruit Training, and Depot mission. Currently, Major Millette serves as the Director of Drill Instructor School, Recruit training Regiment, MCRD PI.

Major Millette is happily married to the former Lauren L. Bowman, since 2007. Together they have four children: Sophia, Dan, Ava, and Olivia.
