Sergeant Major Christine M. Henning

SgtMaj Henning was born in Edina, MN. She graduated from Avoca Hancock Shelby Tennant (AHST) High School in 1995. She enlisted in the Marine Corps on August 1, 1994 and reported to recruit training Parris Island, South Carolina on July 17, 1995. Upon completion of recruit training in October 1995, Private (PVT) Henning reported to Motor Transport School, Camp Johnson, NC. After graduating MOS school in January 1996, Private First Class (PFC) Henning reported to 7th Motor Transport Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, CA. Lance Corporal (LCpl) Henning was assigned as a member of the Air Contingency MAGTF Platoon. LCpl Henning competed and won the Marine of the Quarter Board and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal (Cpl) on December 2, 1997. In December 1998, while still assigned to 7th Motor Transport Battalion, Cpl Henning attended cold weather training Bridgeport, CA. Upon completion of cold weather training, in February 1999, Cpl Henning received orders to Combat Service Support Group (CSSG) 3, Marine Corps Base, Kaneohe Bay, HI. While there, Cpl Henning served as the Chief Dispatcher and Platoon Sergeant. In April 1999, Cpl Henning was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) and attended Sergeant's Course in June 1999. In September 2000, Sgt Henning deployed to Australia for "Operation CROC 99”and returned in November 2000. In February 2001, Sgt Henning received orders to Drill Instructor (DI) School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Parris Island (PI), SC. Upon completion of Drill Instructor School, Sgt Henning went on to attend Marine Corps Instructor Water Survival School (MCIWS) at Parris Island where Sgt Henning was the number one honor graduate. On September 11, 2001 Sgt Henning was assigned to Papa Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion (4th RTBn). She competed and won Drill Instructor of the Quarter. She served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Series Gunnery Sergeant, 4th Battalion Color Sergeant and Recruit Awaiting Disposition Drill Instructor. In September 2003, Sgt Henning was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSgt). In October 2004, upon completion of DI duty, she was reassigned to 1st Marine Logistic Group, CSSG-11, and Remain Behind Element Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge. In March 2005, SSgt Henning was attached to II Marine Expeditionary Force and deployed to Iraq where she served as the Base Motor Transport Operations Chief from May 2005 to March 2006. Upon returning from Iraq, SSgt Henning volunteered and was assigned as a Corporals Course Instructor from May 2006 to November 2006 Camp Pendleton, CA. After completing her time as an Instructor, SSgt Henning was reassigned to CSSG-11, where she served as the Motor Transport Chief and began the redistribution of all equipment into three new Combat Logistic Battalion's 1, 5, and 7. In October 2007, SSgt Henning reported to The Basic School, Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA, where SSgt Henning was assigned as the Motor Transport Operations Chief. SSgt Henning was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) in September 2008. In August 2009, GySgt Henning received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron-373 (MWSS-373). Upon arrival at MWSS-373, GySgt Henning was assigned to Support Company as the Motor Transport Operations Chief. In March 2010, GySgt Henning was hand picked to be a Watch Officer as part of the S-3 for the deployment. GySgt Henning deployed to Afghanistan from September 2010 to April 2011. Upon returning from deployment she returned to Support Company as the Motor Transport Operations Chief. In December 2011, GySgt Henning was selected to the rank of First Sergeant (1stSgt). On January 13, 2012 GySgt Henning was(frocked) to the rank of 1stSgt and reported to Combat Logistics Regiment (CLR) 1, General Support Motor Transport (GSMT) Company, where she served as the 1stSgt, GSMT Company. In January 2013, 1stSgt Henning was transfer to Headquarters (HQ) Company, CLR-1, to assume the duties as the HQ Company 1stSgt. In July 2014, 1stSgt Henning received orders to MCRD PI, SC and reported for duty as 1stSgt, Recruit Training Regiment (RTR), 4th RTBn, as the Company 1stSgt for Companies Oscar and November. In April 2017, 1stSgt Henning transferred from RTR to Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCRD PI, SC to assume duties as the HQ Company 1stSgt. In November 2017, 1stSgt Henning was selected to Sergeant Major (SgtMaj). 1stSgt Henning was (frocked) to her current rank on March 28, 2018 and reported for duty as the Inspector-Instructor (I-I) Sergeant Major, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, St. Paul, MN on April 10, 2018 and assumed the duties as the I-I SgtMaj on May 18, 2018. In May 2021, SgtMaj Henning received orders to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Beaufort, SC. In Sept 2021, SgtMaj Henning assumed the duties as the Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, SgtMaj. In December 2022, SgtMaj Henning recieved orders to Weapons and Field Training and assumed the duties as the Battalion SgtMaj on April 21, 2023. SgtMaj Henning has earned her Associates degree in General Studies in February 2009, Bachelor of Arts in Transportation and Logistics Management in 2016 and a Masters of Science degree in Transportation and Logistics Management in 2021. SgtMaj Henning's awards include: Meritorious Service Medal 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal 5th award, and Drill Instructor Ribbon 2nd award.
