Lt. Col. Michael R. Eubanks

Lieutenant Colonel Eubanks was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA and enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve on his 17th birthday in October 1996, and graduated from recruit training in October 1997.  As a Sergeant, he deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2003 to July 2003.  In July 2004 he graduated from California State University Bakersfield with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in September 2005.                                             

After graduating from The Basic School in October of 2006, he completed Advanced Flight School and was designated a Naval Aviator in September 2008, and subsequently completed replacement aircrew training in the CH-53E Super Stallion in March 2009.

Following initial training in the CH-53E, First Lieutenant Eubanks joined HMH-462 in April of 2009 and later deployed with HMM-165(REIN) in support of the 15th MEU from May to December 2010 as a schedule writer and CH-53E Det NATOPS Officer.  Captain Eubanks transferred to HMH-466 in May 2011 in order to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12.1 from January to August 2012.  While at HMH-466, he held the billets of Logistics Officer and Quality Assurance Officer.

In August 2013, Captain Eubanks reported to Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21 in Pensacola, FL and was assigned to Helicopter Training Squadron 28 (HT-28) as an Instructor Pilot from 2013 to 2016.  While at HT-28, he served as the Student Control Officer, Flight Leader, Flight Operations Officer, Standardization Officer, and Search and Rescue Standardization Officer for Commander Naval Air Training.

In August 2016 Major Eubanks was again assigned to MAG-16 and was assigned to 7th Marine Regiment as the Air Cell Officer in Charge and deployed to Al Jaber Kuwait in support of SPMAGTF-CR-CC 17.1 Command Element from November 2016 to August 2017.  As the Air Cell OIC, Major Eubanks coordinated and tasked Assault Support missions for the VMM and VMGR detachments in support of crisis response operations in Central Command AOR and Operation Inherent Resolve as well as coordinated with the Joint Personnel Recovery Center Incirlik Turkey for TRAP tasking and Combined Air Operations Center Qatar for SPMAGTF TACAIR tasking and Tanker support.

In November 2017, Major Eubanks reported to HMH-361 and deployed to MCAS Futenma Okinawa as the Operations Officer in support of UDP 18.2 from May to November 2018.  While on UDP, he supervised squadron support to III MEF tasking, training detachments to Pohang South Korea, MCAS Iwakuni, and HMH support to Exercises Blue Chromite and Tsunami Relief Exercise 2018.  Major Eubanks continued to serve as Operations Officer through May 2019 and extended his squadron tour one year to serve as the Aircraft Maintenance Officer.

Major Eubanks attended Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base Alabama from August 2020 to June 2021 before transferring to MCRD Parris Island where he was assigned to Weapons and Field Training Battalion as the Operations Officer and Executive Officer.

Lieutenant Colonel Eubanks has been married to his wife Destiny for over 16 years, they have two daughters and one son.  His personal decorations include the Air Medal with Strike/Flight numeral 5, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal gold star in lieu of third award, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal gold star in lieu of second award.  Lieutenant Colonel Eubanks has accumulated over 3,200 mishap free flight hours.
