Lieutenant Colonel Rock was born in Milwaukee, WI.  He attended Officer Candidate School in 2000 and The Basic School in 2001.  Upon graduation from The Basic School he received the MOS of 0602 Communications Officer and attended Communications and Information Systems Officer Course.  After graduation, he reported to Division Communications Company, 1st Marine Division for duty as the Radio Platoon Commander.

In February 2003, 2nd Lieutenant Rock deployed to Kuwait and eventually Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  In October, 1st Lieutenant Rock redeployed and received orders to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines where he would serve as the Battalion S-6.  In June of 2005, Lt Rock was promoted to the rank of captain and executed orders back to Quantico to serve as an instructor at the Communications School.

 From June 2005 to December 2006 Capt Rock served as a Faculty Advisor and primary instructor for the Single Channel Radio portion of the curriculum.  In December, Capt Rock took over as the Deputy Course Coordinator and was responsible for curriculum development, testing, and field exercise development.

In August of 2008 Capt Rock reported to Marine Corps University as a student at Expeditionary Warfare School. In the spring of 2009, as part of the school’s occupational field expansion course period, Capt Rock attended Advanced Communications Officers Course where he earned the additional MOS of 0603 Communications Planner.  After graduation from EWS in May, Capt Rock was selected to augment the staff of Officer Candidate School for the summer rotation.  He taught History and served as an evaluator for all Leadership Reaction Course and Small Unit Leadership Evaluation evolutions.

In August of 2009, Capt Rock reported to 8th Communications Battalion in Camp Lejeune.  Immediately upon checking in, Capt Rock was selected as an Individual Augment and deployed to Djibouti, Africa as the J-6 Operations Officer for Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa.  Upon redeployment in May of 2010, Capt Rock took over as the Company Commander for General Support Company.  In January 2011, Capt Rock relinquished command of GS Company and assumed command of Bravo Company.  In July, Capt Rock deployed to Afghanistan as part of the Advanced Party for the Battalion’s Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 11-2 deployment.  During the deployment he was promoted to the rank of Major.  After the deployment, Maj Rock remained the Bravo Co. CO until June of 2012 when he executed orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.

Upon reporting to MCRD, Maj Rock assumed the duties as the Deputy G-6.  He remained in that billet until April of 2013 when he was hand-picked to take over as the Director of the Drill Instructor School. 

In July of 2015, Maj Rock reported to Marine Corps University as a student at Command and Staff College, where he would eventually earn his Masters in Military Studies.

Upon graduation from Command and Staff, Maj Rock reported for duty with the Joint Staff at the Pentagon as an action officer within the Deputy Director for Global Operations (J-39).  In August of 2018, Maj Rock was promoted to his current rank.

Following his tour on the Joint Staff, LtCol Rock received orders and reported to the Commanding General of Naval Amphibious Force, Task Force 51/5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade for duty as the Director of Communications (G-6). 

In July of 2020, LtCol Rock received orders and reported to the Deputy Commandant for Information, where he assumed the duties as the Enterprise IT portfolio manager within the POM Branch of the Information Resources Division. He remained in this billet until June of 2021 when he report for his current assignment as the Commanding Officer of 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island.
