Capt Reynaldo N. Gutierrez

Captain Reynaldo N. Gutierrez enlisted in the Marine Corps on July 21, 2007 from Houston, TX.  He shipped to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego in July of 2007 for recruit training.  He graduated from Company M, Third Recruit Training Battalion on October 2007.  After attending Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, Captain Gutierrez attended MOS school at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.  His first duty assignment was with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC from April 2008 until July 2011.

As a Motor Transport Operator, Captain Gutierrez deployed with 8th Engineer Support Battalion to Heldman Province, Afghanistan from April to November 2009 in support of the Second Marine Expeditionary Brigade.  Captain Gutierrez’s second deployment was to Kabul, Afghanistan as an Individual Augment for MARCENT/NTM-A from October 2011 to March 2012.  There he served as liaison support to the Salvadoran Special Forces contingent while working for NTM-A.

Captain Gutierrez was selected for the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) in November 2013 and transferred to the NROTC unit at the Pennsylvania State University in May 2014.  Captain Gutierrez earned an undergraduate degree in Labor Studies and Employment Relations and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on May 13, 2016. 

Captain Gutierrez graduated from The Basic School with Company E in February 2017.  He then attended the Combat Engineer Officers Course in Camp Lejeune, NC graduating in August of the same year.  His first duty assignment was with MWSS-274 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC as the Platoon Commander for Combat Engineer Platoon.  As the Assistant Operations Officer, Captain Gutierrez supported multiple service level exercises, to include two Integrated Training Exercises in Twentynine Palms, CA and one Weapons and Tactics Instructor support in Yuma, AZ. 

Captain Gutierrez received his current orders to MCRD Parris Island for duties as a Series Officer on January 2020.  As a Series Commander, Captain Gutierrez completed one partial and two full cycles during the COVID Pandemic.  After 11 months as a Series Commander, Captain Gutierrez was assigned as Company Commander for Company K from December 4, 2020 to February 11, 2022. He then assumed his current position as the Assistant Director of Drill Instructor School in March 2022.

Captain Gutierrez’s decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star, and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with bronze star. He is married to Maggie Gutierrez and is a father to one daughter, Marisol (9 years).
