Sergeant Major Conyers assumed his current post as Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Support Battalion Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, on April 10th, 2026. He enlisted into the Marine Corps from Mullins South Carolina and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island SC in 2003. Upon graduating, he then reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina for Infantry Training Battalion where he earned the MOS of 0311.
In January 2004, Private First Class Conyers reported for duty at 2nd Bn 4th Marines and was assigned to Fox Company where he deployed to AL Ramadi Iraq in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in February of 2004. In May of 2005 Lance Corporal Conyers would deploy with BLT 2/4 to Okinawa Japan and was promoted to Corporal. In March 2006, Corporal Conyers reported to Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command, 29 Palms CA, in support of the Mojave Viper Training Instructor Controller Augment Group. May 2007, Corporal Conyers was promoted to Sergeant and reported to Officer Candidates School MCB Quantico VA, where he served as a Tactics and Physical Training Instructor.
In February of 2010, Sergeant Conyers received orders to 1st Battalion 1st Marines and was assigned to Company C. where he deployed with BLT 1/1, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, in 2011. April 2011, Sergeant Conyers was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant. Staff Sergeant Conyers was then re-assigned to weapons platoon, Charlie Company 1/1 where he served as a Machine gun Section Leader during the WESTPAC deployment. In January 2012, Staff Sergeant Conyers was assigned as the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Company C 1st Battalion 1st Marines.
In April 2012, Staff Sergeant Conyers reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina for Drill Instructor Duty where he was assigned to Hotel Company, Second Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Drill Instructor, Academics Chief and Senior Drill Instructor.
In April 2015 Staff Sergeant Conyers received orders to 1st Battalion 8th Marines, Camp Lejeune NC, where he was assigned to Weapons Company and served as a Section Leader for the Combined Anti Armor Team.
In August 2017 Staff Sergeant Conyers reported to Officer Candidate School. From 2017 until 2020 Gunnery Sergeant Conyers would serve in multiple billets from Academics Instructor, Sergeant Instructor, Platoon Sergeant and Company Gunnery Sergeant, for Companies A, D, and C.
In September 2020 Gunnery Sergeant Conyers reported to 2nd Battalion 2nd Marines for duty, where he served as the Platoon Sergeant for Anti-Armor Platoon, Weapons Company and deployed on a Unit Deployment Program 21.1.
In October 2021 Gunnery Sergeant Conyers was assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Company F.
On 11 December 2021 Gunnery Sergeant Conyers was selected for First Sergeant and Frocked 7 January 2022.
First Sergeant Conyers received orders and reported to School of Infantry, Infantry Training Battalion 11 January 2022, where he served as the Company First Sergeant for Delta Company for 6 classes, before reactivating Company E and serving as the First Sergeant for 2 classes.
In June 2024 First Sergeant Conyers received orders to 10th Marine Regiment, where he served as the Regimental Headquarters Battery, Battery First Sergeant. In May 2025, First Sergeant Conyers would deploy to Guantanamo Bay Cuba in support of Joint Task Force Southern Guard.
In April 2026 First Sergeant Conyers was promoted to his current rank and received orders to MCRD PI, Recruit Training Regiment, to serve as the Support Battalion Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
Sergeant Major Conyers earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the University of Phoenix.
Sergeant Major Conyers’ personal decorations include the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ 3 Gold Stars in lieu of 4th Award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat “V” and 3Gold Stars in lieu of 4th award, Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
