Things to See
Things to See
Parris Island has been making Marines since 1915. In that time, the depot has become home to many monuments and historical sites commemorating generations of Marines from throughout our long history.
Download the
Iron Mike Tour Map
to see some of our most popular destinations on the island. When visiting the Island, remember to check-in at the
Douglas Visitors' Center
for a map of the depot and any additional information.
For an in-depth history of the monuments, statues and memorials on the depot, visit the
Parris Island Museum
. Ask for directions at the visitors' center and look for the captured Japanese artillery in front of the museum.

Parris Island Monuments; Honoring History
World War II veteran Arthur Shearer reflects on his service during a virtual tour of the few of the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island monuments. The MCRD Parris Island monuments stand as a reminder of those who fought in battle and shaped the future of the Marine Corps. Those monuments include the Iron Mike Monument, the Iwo Jima Monument, Drill Instructor Monument, Molly Marine Monument, and the Purple Heart Monument. During the virtual tour, World War II veteran Arthur Shearer reflects on his time in service and what advice he would give future generations of service members. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Daniel Lobo)
