Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and Eastern Recruiting Region
Brigadier General Lance J. Langfeldt

Brigadier General Langfeldt is originally from Omaha, Nebraska. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1990. Following recruit training and the School of Infantry, he reported to Marine Barracks Subic Bay. Upon completion of barracks duty, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, where he deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. After promotion to sergeant and completion of his enlistment, he returned home to complete his undergraduate education at the University of Nebraska Omaha. He was commissioned in 1997.

Brigadier General Langfeldt has commanded operational and recruiting units at the company, battalion, and district level and has served in positions supporting operational forces and recruiting operations throughout the Marine Corps. Assignments with the Fleet Marine Force include: Tank Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Scout Platoon Commander, 2d Tank Battalion; Staff Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Warfighting Instructor, The Basic School; Operations Officer and Company Commander, 1st Tank Battalion, deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM III; and Battalion Commander, 2d Tank Battalion.

His staff and supporting establishment assignments include: Company Grade Monitor and Joint Officer Matters Officer, Manpower Management Division, Headquarters Marine Corps; Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Indianapolis, 9th Marine Corps District; Operations Officer, 12th Marine Corps District; Assistant Chief of Staff Recruiting, Eastern Recruiting Region, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island; and Commanding Officer, 6th Marine Corps District.

His Joint assignments include: Battle Watch Commander and Chief of Staff, Global Operations Directorate, United States Strategic Command.

His General Officer assignment is as the Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and Eastern Recruiting Region, which he assumed following selection to Brigadier General.

His professional military education includes: The Basic School; Armor Officer Basic Course; Scout Platoon Leader’s Course; Expeditionary Warfare School (Distinguished Graduate); United Kingdom Advanced Command and Staff Course; Marine Corps Command and Staff College (Distinguished Graduate); and Marine Corps War College (Distinguished Graduate).

He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska Omaha, a Master of Arts in Defense Studies from King’s College London, and a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the Marine Corps War College.

His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (Second award), Meritorious Service Medal (Fourth award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device (Third award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Second award), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
