Commanding Officer, 1st Recruit Training Battalion
Lt. Col. Jeffrey B. Pattay
Lieutenant Colonel (LtCol) Jeff Pattay is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Lycoming College in 1999. He completed the Platoon Leader’s Course (combined) during the summer of 1998 and received a commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2000.
 
After completing The Basic School, Second Lieutenant Pattay reported to Communications and Information Systems Officer Course for training as a Communications Officer. He transferred to Marine Wing Communication Squadron-38 (MWCS-38), 3d Marine Air Wing, serving as a single-channel radio platoon commander, multi-channel radio platoon commander, and company executive officer from 2002 through 2004. First Lieutenant Pattay deployed with MWCS-38 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
 
Following the deployment, he attended Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course. In 2004, he transferred to the Commander, Naval Surface Forces at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. Here Captain Pattay served as the Landing Force and Expeditionary Strike Group communication planner.
 
In 2006, Capt Pattay was selected to attend Expeditionary Warfare School and Advanced Communication Officer Course. Upon completion, he reported to 1st Air, Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), I Marine Expeditionary Force. Captain Pattay assumed the responsibilities of S-6 and Headquarters Brigade Platoon Commander from 2007 through 2010 and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008. From 1st ANGLICO, Capt Pattay transferred to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and was assigned as the Deputy Director G-6, Parris Island/Eastern Recruiting Region. After promotion to Major in 2010, he became the Executive Officer for Third Recruit Training Battalion.
 
Major Pattay completed US Army Command and General Staff School in 2014 and the School of Advanced Military Studies in 2015. Here he earned a Master of Military Art and Science degree.
 
Major Pattay reported 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade in July 2015 as a MAGTF Planner. He served as the Future Operations Officer and AC/S G-6. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in Sept 2017 and was temporarily assigned to Task Force Southwest 18.1 to serve as the AC/S J-5, Plans Officer, in support of OPERATION Freedom’s Sentinel/RESOLUTE SUPPORT MISSION Afghanistan. Following deployment, LtCol Pattay returned to 2d MEB to serves as the Current Operations Officer.
 
LtCol Pattay’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (x3), Navy Commendation Medal (x2) and Navy Achievement Medal.
