Col Anthony Bariletti was born in Flushing, NY and is a graduate of the University of Central Florida. Commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC), he graduated The Basic School in May 2003 as a Tank Officer. Following graduation from the Armor Officer Basic Course, he reported to 1st Tank Battalion in Twentynine Palms, CA. Upon arrival, 2ndLt Bariletti was assigned as 1st Platoon Commander, Company D. In August 2004, 1stLt Bariletti was assigned as Tank Platoon Commander, Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC). While deployed, he participated in Operation UNIFIED ASSISTANCE in response to the Indonesian Tsunami of 2004. After, the MEU conducted combat operations in Baghdad, Iraq while in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF) II-III. In June 2005, 1stLt Bariletti became the Executive Officer of Company C, deploying to Al Anbar Province, Iraq in support of OIF 05-07.
In October 2006 Captain Bariletti was assigned to 2d Recruit Training Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, where he served as a Series Commander, and Commanding Officer of Co E from April 2008 through September 2009. In March 2010, Captain Bariletti was again assigned to 1st Tank Battalion, and deployed as the S-3A for the Black Sea Rotational Force (BSRF). Upon completion, Captain Bariletti was assigned as the Operations Officer and conducted exercise STEEL KNIGHT. In October 2010, Captain Bariletti became the Commanding Officer of Co C. In October 2011, the company was re-missioned as a Route Clearance Company, and he deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan to conduct combat operations in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF). Upon his return, Captain Bariletti was assigned to the Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group, where he served as the Academics Officer and a Battalion Faculty Advisor.
In June 2015, Major Bariletti was assigned as the Deliberate Plans Officer for II Marine Expeditionary Force, where he was responsible for the development of Operation Plans (OPLANs), global force management, and served as the lead planner for II MEF participation in Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18. In August 2018, Major Bariletti was assigned as the Operations Officer for 24 Marine Expeditionary Unit, where he deployed aboard the IWOARG/24 MEU in support of TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18, and upon return deployed again in support of SPMAGTF-CR-AF.
From June 2019 – June 2021, LtCol Bariletti commanded Third Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. During his command, Third Battalion took the lead on redesigning the Crucible in accordance with the anticipated future operating environment need and planned and executed the first Integrated Training Company on the West Coast, while transforming nearly 10,000 recruits into United States Marines.
From August 2022 – August 2024, upon completion of the National Defense University’s Joint Advanced Warfighting School, LtCol Bariletti served as a Strategic Planner and the Campaign and Functional Plans Branch Chief in the USCENTCOM J5 – Strategy, Plans, and Policy Directorate.
In August 2024, Col Bariletti assumed the responsibilities as the Future Operations Officer for III Marine Expeditionary Force, preparing our nation’s Stand in Force to meet the evolving threats posed against the Indo-Pacific’s pacing threat.
Col Bariletti assumed command of the Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on 3 July 2025.
Col Bariletti holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science-Pre-Law from the University of Central Florida (2002). Additionally, he holds a Master of Diplomacy from Norwich University (2010), a Master of Military Studies (2014) and a Master of Operational Studies (2015) from Marine Corps University, and a Master of Science in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from National Defense University. His other formal military education includes: The Basic School, the Armor Officer Basic Course (Commandant’s List), Expeditionary Warfare School (Distinguished Graduate), the USMC Martial Art Instructor Course (Honor Graduate), US Army Maneuver Captain’s Career Course (Distinguished Graduate), the USMC Operations and Tactics Instructor Course, Command and Staff College (Distinguished Graduate), USMC School of Advanced Warfighting (Cliffton B. Cates Award Recipient), and the Joint Advanced Warfighting School, NDU (Joint Campaign Planner Award Recipient) – with an individual research area on deterrence in an era of strategic competition.
Col Bariletti’s personal awards include the Bronze Star with combat distinguishing device, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal w/gold star in lieu of 2nd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal w/two gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal w/gold star in lieu of 2nd award, and the Combat Action Ribbon w/gold star in lieu of 2nd award.
