1st Recruit Training Battalion
Sergeant Major Mitchell Goldschmidt

Sergeant Major (SgtMaj) Mitchell Goldschmidt assumed his current position as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Parris Island, South Carolina in February 2026.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt enlisted in the Marines Corps out of Hutchinson, Minnesota and went on to graduate from MCRD, San Diego, California in November 2001. He attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, California. He attended MOS school at Marine Corps Communications Electronics School (MCCES), Twenty-nine Palms, California, for Telephone Systems, Personal Computer Intermediate Repair (2847).

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to Marine Air Control Squadron 2, Okinawa Japan in October 2002 where he served as a Maintenance Management Non-Commissioned Officer. In March 2003 he was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to 2nd Intelligence Battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in November 2004 where he served as an Intelligence Systems Maintenance Technician. In September 2006, he was deployed to Camp Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In October 2007 he was deployed to Al' Qaim, Iraq in support of OIF.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to 2nd Maintenance Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in September 2008 where he served as the Platoon Sergeant for Wire Platoon. In September 2009 he deployed to Al' Taqqadum Iraq in support of OIF.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to MCCES, Twenty-nine Palms, California in July 2010 where he attended Communications and Electronics Maintenance Technician Course (2862).

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to Combined Arms Training Center, Camp Fuji, Japan in May 2011 where he served as the Headquarters and Services (H&S) Company Gunnery Sergeant and Electronics Maintenance Chief.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28, Cherry Point, North Carolina in June 2012 where he served as the Radio Maintenance Section Head, the H&S Company Gunnery Sergeant and the Company A Maintenance Chief.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to Drill Instructor (DI) School, MCRD, San Diego, California in April 2015 where he is graduated from class 3-15. Upon graduation from DI School, he was assigned to 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Company K where he served as a DI, Experienced DI, and Senior DI. In December 2017, he was transferred to Support Battalion, Receiving Company where he served as a Senior DI and Chief DI.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in October 2018 where he served as the Communications and Electronics Maintenance Chief.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28, Cherry Point, North Carolina in September 2019 where he served as the Ground Electronics Maintenance Platoon Floor Chief, the Company A Communication and Electronic Maintenance Chief, Company Gunnery Sergeant for Company A, the Senior Enlisted Leader for H&S Company, and the the Senior Enlisted Leader for Company A.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in January 2023 where he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Company C. In June 2024, he was attached to Battalion Landing Team 1/8 where he deployed aboard the USS Wasp is support of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt reported to Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD, Parris Island, South Carolina in April 2025 where he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Company N, and Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 1st Recruit Training Battalion.

SgtMaj Goldschmidt has a bachelor’s degree in business management from American Military University.

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of third award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of third award.
