Master Sgt. Christopher D. Bentley

Master Sergeant Bentley was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama and enlisted in the Marine Corps in March of 2005, where he attended recruit training in Mike Company 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.

Upon completion of recruit training, Private Bentley was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class. After graduating Marine Combat Training that same year, he attended Expeditionary Airfield Technician school at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, graduating as a 7011 Expeditionary Airfield Technician.

Private First Class Bentley reported to Marine Corps Air Facility, Marine Corps Base, Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii in 2005 as an E-28 Emergency Arresting Gear technician.

In 2009, Corporal Bentley reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 374, Marine Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms California as a Runway Crew Leader. After a deployment as an individual augment with MWSS 373 to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan in September 2010 to March 2011in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and finishing his tour in Twentynine Palms. Sergeant Bentley, reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps, Cherry Point, North Carolina as Runway Supervisor.

In December of 2013, he reported to MWSS 273 and was a part of the Fleet Assistance Program to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, South Carolina as Production Control Chief and Runway Supervisor. In July of 2014, Sergeant Bentley was promoted to Staff Sergeant.

In October 2016, Staff Sergeant Bentley reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina for Drill Instructor Duty with class 1-17. Staff Sergeant Bentley was assigned to First Recruit Training Battalion, Delta Company and held the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Chief Drill Instructor, and Company First Sergeant. During this time, in 2018, Staff Sergeant Bentley was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

In July of 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Bentley PCA’d to MCAS Beaufort, SC to Marine Wing Support Detachment 273, holding the billet of Quality Assurance Chief for the Expeditionary Airfield Section. The detachment stood up as a MWSS in October of 2021.

Gunnery Sergeant Bentley PCS'd to MWSS 174 as SNCOIC of the Expeditionary Airfield section at Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii in December of 2021. He was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant in October of 2022.

In March of 2023, Master Sergeant Bentley assumed his current billet as Chief Instructor at Drill Instructor School, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina.

Master Sergeant Bentley’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 1 silver star in lieu of sixth award, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with 1 Silver star in lieu of sixth award.
