Keith A. Davis enlisted in the Marine Corps on Nov. 15, 1988. After completing recruit training on Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Calif., Pfc. Davis attended Radio Operators Communications School to serve as a field radio operator. Upon graduation from school, he received orders to 2nd Battalion 5th Marines, Camp Pendleton, Calif. During his tour, Pfc. Davis served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. While at 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, he was promoted to the rank of lance corporal and corporal.
In January 1992, Cpl. Davis received orders to Communications Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, Calif. During his tour, he served as the multi-channel operator supervisor and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of sergeant.
In June 1996, Sgt. Davis received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., for drill instructor duty. During his tour, he because a senior drill instructor for India Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and a close combat instructor for Support Battalion. He was promoted to staff sergeant at the end of his tour.
In May 1999, Staff Sgt. Davis received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C. During his tour he attended the Communications System Chief Course. From September 1999-2001 he served as the communications radio chief.
In December 2001, he was promoted to gunnery sergeant and reassigned to 6th Marine Regiment, Headquarters Company, Camp Lejeune, N.C. During his tour, Gunnery Sgt. Davis served as the regimental radio chief and served in Operation Enduring Freedom.
In October 2005, Gunnery Sgt. Davis received orders to Communications Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa, Japan. From November 2005 through June 2006, he was temporarily assigned to an Advisor Support Team, Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his tour, he returned to Communications Company and was promoted to first sergeant.
In September 2006, First Sgt. Davis received orders to Food Service Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa, Japan. In April 2008, he was assigned to Headquarters Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 37, Okinawa, Japan.
In March 2009, First Sgt. Davis received orders to Headquarters Battery, 11th Marines. During his tour he was promoted to sergeant major.
In December 2009, Sgt. Maj. Davis was assigned to Fighter Attack Squadron 314. During his tour, he completed two overseas unit deployments. After his tour, he received orders to Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, Ga., to serve as the site sergeant major for Marine Aircraft Group 49, Detachment Alpha.
Sergeant Major Davis' personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, Combat Action ribbon in lieu of third award, and the Good Conduct Medal in lieu of eighth award.
