Brigadier General Williamson is originally from Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) and was commissioned in May 1994.
Brigadier General Williamson has commanded communications units at the platoon, company, and battalion level and has served in staff positions with operational forces in deployed and combat environments. Assignments with the Fleet Marine Force include: Platoon Commander, 9th Communication Battalion; Assistant Communications Officer and Joint Task Force Enabler Officer in Charge, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable); Support Company Commander and Battalion S-3 Operations Officer, deploying in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF) I and II with 9th Communication Battalion; G-6 Operations Officer, 3d Marine Division; Company Commander, 3d Marine Division Communication Company; and Battalion Commander, 9th Communication Battalion.
His staff and supporting establishment positions include: Company Officer and Instructor, USNA; Staff Secretary, III Marine Expeditionary Force; Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellowship Program; Deputy Chief, Resources & Operations Division, Headquarters Marine Corps C4 Department; Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Officer Candidates School; and Military Assistant to the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps. His joint assignments include: Duty with U.S. Special Operations Command as a Branch Chief, J-6 Communications Systems Directorate; J-6 Director of Communications for a Joint Special Operations Task Force, deploying to Iraq during Operation NEW DAWN; Joint Staff serving as a Branch Chief & Program Manager within the J-6 C4/Cyber Directorate; and within the J-3 Operations Directorate, U.S. Cyber Command. His General Officer assignments include: Director of Manpower Plans & Policy Division, Manpower & Reserve Affairs in Headquarters Marine Corps and Chief Diversity Officer of the Marine Corps; and most recently as the Deputy Director Current Operations, J-3, U.S. Cyber Command.
Brigadier General Williamson assumed his current position on June 14, 2024, as the Commanding General of MCRD Parris Island and Eastern Recruiting Region. His professional military education includes: TBS Basic Officer Course; Basic Communications Officers Course; Expeditionary Warfare School (Honors); USMC Command and Staff College (Honors); and Joint-Combined Warfighting School.
He earned a B.S. in Computer Science from USNA, a M.S. in Management from Naval Postgraduate School (Distinction), and a Masters of Military Studies from Marine Corps University (Distinguished). His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (Second award), Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (Third award), Meritorious Service Medal (Fourth award), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
