Parris Island Welcomes Newest Marines of Golf, November Company

Today's graduation ceremony was a landmark for the 286 new Marines of Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, and 132 new Marines of November Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion.

 

Among the new Marines are these distinguished graduates:

  • Pfc. Nigel Ortiz – Bronx, N.Y. – Honor Graduate, Platoon 2041

  • Pfc. Shane Skoog – Trumbull, Conn. – Honor Graduate, Platoon 2042

  • Pfc. Joshua Lockhart – La Plata, Md. – Honor Graduate, Platoon 2044

  • Pfc. Nathan Nicholsbrown – Wilmington, Del. – Honor Graduate, Platoon 2045

  • Pfc. Patrick DeBenedette – Parsippany, N.J. – Honor Graduate, Platoon 2046

  • Pfc. Patrick Trudell – Lansing, Mich. – High Shooter, Platoon 2042

  • Pfc. Andrew Guess – Pineville, La. – High PFT/CFT, Platoon 2044

  • Pfc. Megan Srp – Ladysmith, Wis. – Honor Graduate, Platoon 4018

Each new Marine persevered through 70 training days while passing each of the seven graduation requirements.

 

Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for approximately 49 percent of male recruits and 100 percent of female recruits in the Marine Corps.
