On Sunday July 7, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Fire and Emergency Services responded to a single vehicle accident at 7:30 p.m. involving a tractor trailer on the depot’s causeway.

The driver of the vehicle sustained injuries due to the accident and was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital for medical care.  

In concert effort with the City of Beaufort / Town of Port Royal Fire Department, emergency services worked throughout the night clearing the roadway.

The causeway has been cleared and the flow of traffic into and out of the base has returned to normal.
