MCRDPI to hold mass casualty exercise on Sept. 26
On September 26, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island will be conducting a full-scale emergency exercise to access the depot’s emergency response protocols. The exercise will be conducted during normal working hours and will simulate a mass causality event at Peatross Parade Field.

Nighttime Aerial Spray For Mosquitoes
In an effort to control sand flea and mosquito populations and depending on weather conditions, MCRD Parris Island is scheduled to undergo nighttime aerial spray activities between Sept. 10-11. If weather permits, spray activities will occur approximately an hour after sundown on Sept. 10, 2024. As a bad weather backup for Sept. 10, spray activities will occur approximately an hour after sunset on Sept. 11, 2024.

Nighttime Aerial Spray for Mosquitoes
In an effort to control sand flea and mosquito populations and depending on weather conditions, MCRD Parris Island is scheduled to undergo nighttime aerial spray activities on either 19, 20 or 22 August 2024. Weather permitting, spray activities will occur approximately an hour after sundown on one of those three days. The insecticides used present no threat to humans, plants or animals in the area and are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency; however, beekeepers within a five-mile radius are urged to keep hives covered. Hurricane Debby Update
Due to the destructive weather expected to impact the local area this week from Hurricane Debby, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island leadership has decided not to evacuate the base and will shelter in place until the storm has passed. The depot will begin base hardening measures today by fortifying buildings with sandbags, emplacing protective coverings to windows as appropriate, and begin distributing food and water to all training battalions in preparation for degraded services across the base.
