Recruits with Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, conduct a 5K Hike on Apr 20, 2019 on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. The recruits will conduct five hikes of increasing difficulty before culminating in a 15K hike during the Crucible. Today approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
