Mark and Vikki Pier watch as their youngest son, Marine Corps Pvt. Ethan Pier, 17, packs his belongings in preparation to graduate the next day on Parris Island, S.C. on April 26, 2018. Ethan, from Charlotte, N.C., spent the last three months on Parris Island training with Platoon 2032, Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, to earn his newfound title of Marine.
