Things to See
Things to See
Parris Island has been making Marines since 1915. In that time, the depot has become home to many monuments and historical sites commemorating generations of Marines from throughout our long history.
Download the
Iron Mike Tour Map
to see some of our most popular destinations on the island. When visiting the Island, remember to check-in at the
Douglas Visitors' Center
for a map of the depot and any additional information.
For an in-depth history of the monuments, statues and memorials on the depot, visit the
Parris Island Museum
. Ask for directions at the visitors' center and look for the captured Japanese artillery in front of the museum.

Rappel Tower
The Marine Corps recruit training evolution is designed to create basically trained Marines, ensuring the fundamentals of our Warrior Ethos have been thoroughly engrained in them. Training Events such as the 47 Foot tall Rappel Tower are designed to mimics descending from a helicopter skid or a building using a rope and harness. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Luis Ponce)
