The depot will reopen to the public tomorrow for Alpha Company’s graduation.
For permanent personnel, the base with operate with essential personnel only. Individual chain of commands will identify the manpower needed to support tomorrow’s activities and will make contact with those Marines as appropriate.
Due to the winter weather impacting Beaufort County, the following changes have been implemented for accessing the base tomorrow.
Due to snow and ice accumulation, the Visitor’s Gate is inaccessible and will be closed tomorrow. The main gate will be used by everyone for entry to the base. Visitors coming for graduation will be able to access the depot beginning at 7 a.m. We ask families to please strictly follow this 7 a.m. timeline to alleviate any traffic issues at the main gate. Families arriving before 7 a.m will be barred access.
The Douglas Visitor Center, Post Exchange, and All Weather Training Facility will be the only locations on the base open tomorrow. All other facilities to include the museum, eateries, commissary, etc., will remain closed.
The Douglas Visitor Center will open at 7 a.m. to the public.
The graduation ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the All Weather Training Facility. Marines and signage will direct all visitors to the appropriate location upon entry to the base. As a reminder, the Morning Colors Ceremony has been canceled.
For Alpha Company families who had paid for the Family Day dinner, refunds have been issued. For individuals who have paid for items to include corsages, signs, etc., those items can be picked up at the location identified on your receipt, email, or postcard.
Due to the winter weather conditions impacting the area, the depot commanding general has authorized the following:
January 23:
The depot will remain closed to the public. Families of Alpha Company will not have access to the base, and all MCCS events aboard the installation are canceled.
Recruits will remain within their company barracks under the supervision of their platoon leadership. Mess halls will be closed, and recruits will be provided MREs. Drill instructors and company leadership will stay with the recruits throughout the duration of the winter weather.
January 24:
Morning Colors is canceled. Graduation will be moved indoors to the All-Weather Training Facility. Signage and Marines will direct all visitors to the appropriate location. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The depot’s Visitor Gate will open at 7 a.m. for families to begin accessing the base.

Due to forecasted winter weather anticipated in Beaufort County from Jan. 21-23, the Depot Commanding General has authorized the following changes to depot operations beginning today:
January 21:
Training aboard the base stopped at noon today for all recruits. Recruits are limited to training within their company barracks with their platoon leadership. The base mess halls have been closed, and recruits will be given MREs. Drill instructors and company leadership will remain with recruits during the duration of the winter weather.
Permanent personnel were released by their individual chains of command in preparation for the winter weather, with a release time of 12 p.m. for a 1 p.m. closure.
Depot services and facilities began closing early. The base Child Development Center closed at 1 p.m. and MCCS contacted impacted families for picking up their children. The depot commissary and exchange will close today at 4 p.m.
January 22:
The base will be closed to the public. For the families of Alpha Company, all MCCS events aboard the base are cancelled and you will not have access to enter the base.
For permanent personnel assigned to Parris Island, all facilities aboard the base (Exchange, Commissary, Gym, etc.) will be closed.
All recruit training activities remain cancelled, and recruits will be limited to their barracks facilities. Recruits will conduct indoor training (drill, studying knowledge, etc.) with their platoon leadership throughout the day.
Safety Advisory and Family Day/Graduation Updates
The safety of personnel remains the top priority. Please stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary, as road conditions may worsen. Be sure to monitor updates regarding weather conditions, county school closures, and county road closures.
The motivational run is canceled. Further information regarding Family Day and Graduation Day activities will be provided as conditions are assessed.
