Terry Williams, commanding general, Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Eastern Recruiting Region Parris Island, during a relief and appointment ceremony Nov. 21, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. The passing of the sword symbolizes the transfer of responsibilities and accountability from the outgoing senior-enlisted advisor to the incoming. Maness replaced Sgt. Maj.
