Sergeant Major Frank O. Robinson

Sergeant Major Robinson was born in Baltimore, Maryland and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1995 and completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island. Following recruit training Private First Class Robinson attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger and Motor Transport School at Camp Johnson.  Upon completion he was assigned the MOS 3531.

Private First Class Robinson reported to Combat Service Support Group-3 in April 1996 as a Motor Transport driver. PFC Robinson was promoted to Lance Corporal in September 1996.  In 1997 Lance Corporal was named CSSG-3 Marine of the Year and meritoriously promoted to Corporal.

Corporal Robinson was transferred to HQCo to serve as the Groups S-3 clerk.  Corporal Robinson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in January 1999. Sergeant Robinson was then transferred to Headquarters and Support Battalion to serve as an instructor for the Corporal’s Course.

In January 2000 Sergeant Robinson was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron-272 New River and served as Motor transport Plt Sgt. In May 2002 Sergeant Robinson deployed to Zaragoza, Spain in support of Dynamic Mix 02.  In February 2003 Sergeant Robinson deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Sergeant Robinson was promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 2003.

In November 2003 Staff Sergeant Robinson was transferred to Marine Corps Combat Service Support School Camp Johnson to serve as an instructor, Platoon Sergeant and Company GySgt for Motor Transport School.

In April 2006 Staff Sergeant Robinson attended Drill Instructor School Parris Island, SC.  Staff Sergeant Robinson served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In January 2008 Staff Sergeant Robinson was named 2nd Battalion Drill Instructor of the Year and transferred to Drill Instructor School where he served as an instructor, drill master and chief instructor.  In September 2008 Staff Sergeant Robinson was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.

In June 2009 Gunnery Sergeant Robinson was transferred to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, to serve as the Battalion’s Motor Transport Chief.

In January 2011 Gunnery Sergeant Robinson was transferred to 8th Marine Regiment and deployed to Nimroz Province Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 11.1 and 11.2. Upon returning from deployment Gunnery Sergeant Robinson was assigned as Company First Sergeant Charlie Company 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion and served aboard the USS Kersearge in support of exercise Bold Alligator 12.

In December 2011 Gunnery Sergeant Robinson was selected and frocked to the rank of First Sergeant.  In February 2012 First Sergeant Robinson was transferred to 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion to serve as Company First Sergeant Bravo Company.  In February 2013 First Sergeant Robinson was transferred to II MEF Headquarters Group to serve as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant.

In October 2013 First Sergeant Robinson was transferred to 1st Battalion 7th Marines as Weapons Company 1stSgt. In March 2014 First Sergeant Robinson deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 14.1 and 14.2 to Helmand Province Afghanistan.

 

In January 2015 First Sergeant Robinson was transferred to Headquarters Battalion as the Company A First Sergeant.

In February 2017 SgtMaj Robinson was transferred to RS Jacksonville to serve as the Recruiting Station Sergeant Major for RS Jacksonville, Florida.

In July 2020 Sergeant Major Robinson was transferred to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron MCAS Beaufort.

In August of 2021, Sergeant Major Robinson was transferred to 6th Marine Corps District until July of 2023.

Sergeant Major Robinson assumed his current duties as the Battalion Sergeant Major for Headquarters and Service Battalion in July 2023.

Sergeant Major Robinson’s awards include Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars, Navy/Marine Commendation Medal with three gold stars and combat “V”, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Combat Action Ribbon.
