Douglas Visitors' Center

Visitors to Parris Island are required to check in at the Douglas Visitors' Center (DVC) prior to exploring other areas of the Depot. The Marines will provide a comprehensive map of key locations and offer insights into notable sites to visit.

The DVC operates exclusively during graduation weeks, with extended hours on graduation and family days. It is situated on the left side of Boulevard de France, just beyond the “We Make Marines” sign.

*Please note that the DVC is closed on federal holidays.

The Marines at the DVC can be contacted at 843-228-3650 or 843-228-3297.

The Douglas Visitor's Center operates exclusively during Graduation Weeks, with hours as follows:

  • Wednesday: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Thursday: 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Friday: 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The Douglas Visitors’ Center is named in honor of Paul H. Douglas, who, in 1942 at the age of 50, was the oldest Marine recruit to have completed recruit training.

After attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1946, he left the Marine Corps and went on to become a U.S. Senator in Illinois.
