Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. --  

In an effort to control sand flea and mosquito populations, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island is scheduled to undergo aerial spray activities Oct. 4 – 5, 2018.

 

The U.S. Air Force Aerial Spray Unit of the 910th Airlift Wing will conduct night spray activities on Oct. 4 after sunset or daytime spray activities on Oct. 5 before dusk, depending on weather. The spraying will be conducted by a C-130 aircraft flying multiple, low passes over MCRD PI.

The insecticides are applied in very small quantity (0.75 ounces/acre), present no threat to humans, plants or animals in the area, and are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.
