In an effort to control sand flea and mosquito populations and depending on weather conditions, MCRD Parris Island is scheduled to undergo nighttime aerial spray activities sometime between 14 and 15 May 2024. If weather permits, spray activities will occur approximately an hour after sundown on 14 May 2023. As a bad weather backup for 14 May, spray activities will occur approximately an hour after sunset on 15 May 2024.

The insecticides used present no threat to humans, plants or animals in the area and are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency; however, beekeepers within a five-mile radius are urged to keep hives covered.
