Col. Timothy R. Dremann Commanding Officer, Weapons & Field Training Battalion

In 1994, 2ndLt Dremann was designated an Infantry Officer and attended the Infantry Officers Course, Quantico Virginia. Upon graduation, he reported for duty as a Rifle Platoon Commander with Company A, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines. While assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, 1stLt Dremann served as Rifle Platoon Commander, Weapons Platoon Commander, Weapons Company Executive Officer and Rifle Company Commander. He participated in the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa Japan, an LF6F deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and a deployment to Rodman Naval Base, Panama. 

In 1998, 1stLt Dremann reported to Recruit Training Depot, Parris Island, S.C. for duty as a Series Commander.  Captain Dremann served as a Series Commander, Company Executive Officer, Commanding Officer Company H and Assistant Director, Drill Instructor School. Upon completion of his tour at Parris Island, Captain Dremann attended the Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School.

Captain Dremann completed the Amphibious Warfare School in 2002 and reported for duty to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines. He served as Commanding Officer Headquarters and Service Company and Commanding Officer, Company F.  While assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines the Battalion deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Upon re-deployment from Iraq, Captain Dremann was assigned to 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, where he served as both Battalion Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer. While serving as Executive Officer, the Battalion deployed in support of OIF-II from August 2004 to May 2005. 

Major Dremann was subsequently assigned duty as Inspector-Instructor Company K, 3d Battalion, 23rd Marines in Memphis, Tennessee.  In 2007, the Battalion mobilized and deployed to Hadetha, Iraq in support of OIF from August 2007 until April 2008.  Upon return from OIF, Major Dremann attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. 

Upon graduation, LtCol Dremann was assigned to the United States Special Operations Command, J5, Plans, Programs and Policies.  He served as an International Engagement Officer and subsequently the International Engagement Branch Chief.  While assigned to SOCOM he served in Colombia, Jordan, and Afghanistan.

In 2012, LtCol Dremann received orders to the School of Infantry – East and from 2013 to 2015 served as the Commanding Officer, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion.

Upon completion of his tour at School of Infantry-East, LtCol Dremann attended the Defense Language Institute and subsequently attended the Argentine Joint War College in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  He was promoted to his current rank in October 2016.

Upon returning from Argentina, Col Dremann assumed duties as the G-3, AC/S Operations at Second Marine Division.  He assumed duties as the Chief of Staff, 2d Marine Division from June 2017 until February 2019.  From February to June 2018 he served as the Commanding Officer, 2d Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division.

He is married to the former Ms Catherine Bush of Charleston, South Carolina and they have three children; Jackson (21), Sarah (20) and Michael (7).
